"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." - Benjamin Franklin
I adore my wonderful class of 25 students, a mix of both 4th and 5th graders. All of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are all English Language Learners. At my school, all students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Most of these students spend 8-10 hours at school, whether it be at an after school program and/or getting dropped off early due to their parents' long work hours. Many of these students have little access to a space that they can call their own. I hope, as their teacher, I can give them a space they are proud of within my classroom.
Having two grades in one classroom adds some complications. My class has a wide variety of skill sets and many students need to be independent workers who take initiative in their work since I have to split my time among two grades. Support is appreciated!
