Learning how a student learns is essential in being a good educator. Giving students a choice gives them a chance to take charge of their learning. Flexible seating has many benefits, helping them become meta-cognitive of their learning process and finding what works best for them is just one. At the moment my students may choose to sit under their desks, at tables or carpet area while using clip boards.
My students are more engaged in their work when given the choice of where to work. The alternative seating items I have selected will assist in giving my students additional seating options where they will make more effective learning decisions. Students will be able to choose between wobble chairs, a floor table, and balance balls as flexible seating options to increase student engagement in learning activities.. Getting students engaged in their education and building a student centered classroom is imperative to being an effective learner and teacher.
I have already witnessed the positive outcomes of alternative seating and hope the additional choices will help thrive this year!
