I am blessed to be a teacher of 3rd grade non-verbal 6:1:1 classroom. The students in Y06 are some of the most amazing little people in the world! We Distrct 75 school in which we service children severe learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, autism spectrum disorder, and learning disabilities.
The children in my 6:1:1 class live in the South Bronx. An area of New York City that consist of 38% of the population living below the poverity line.
90 percent of my class and their families are African American and Latino. As a special education teacher who is also a person of color I feel it is my moral obligation to ensure my students are given high quality education regardless of the soc-economical class they/we come from.
