I am asking for 3 different items.
1. Noise Canceling headphones: Many of my students, especially those on the Autism Spectrum or with Emotional Disturbance, have a hard time deciphering between background noise and what they should be focusing on. I currently have one pair of these headphones that I got at the end of last year, and they were a game-changer. I have students who, beforehand, would have never gone into the "regular" classroom because of the stimulus overload. After I got these headphones, my students had no problem going to these classes and receiving the same curriculum as their peers! I am asking for more of these to give more students this opportunity.
2. The U-shaped table. I would like to use this as my desk. This will allow space at my "desk" for students to gather around and receive small group instruction. This also allows for a choice; students can choose to work independently or come to my table to receive more instruction.
3. The bouncy chairs. These are for students who, due to stimulus overload or sensory issues, have a hard time focusing while sitting still. I currently have many students who need to take breaks outside to get themselves moving. I currently had an exercise bike donated to my classroom, and it has really helped the students be able to stay in class while being able to move. These bouncy ball chairs will also allow for that movement while working.
