A classroom rug is a vital tool to have in a first grade classroom. Not only does it provide a warm and welcoming classroom. But it also provides an area where my students can sit next to one another and share their thoughts and stories. It will provide them the space and comfort they need while learning various content areas such as Reading, Math, Science and Fundations.
Because of Covid-19, the classroom rug we were supposed to have was damaged while in storage, and we currently sit on a tile floor during our lessons and circle time. During our lessons, we have a hard time sitting still and find ourselves slipping around more than we would if we had a nice comfy carpet to sit on. But if we had a carpet to sit on, we may feel more relaxed and ready to learn!
