My students love to move and these supplies will give them more options for movement in the classroom during their learning time. Right now they only get 20 minutes of recess a day and with transitions that time is even shortened. They need more time to move!!
Giving students different seating choices would help many students stay engaged during lessons. Students that have ADD or ADHD would be able to move at their seat on a Stay-N-Play Balance Ball or use bouncy bands on the chair of their desk. When they come to guided reading and small group math, they could sit on stools instead of regular chairs. I have asked for ten balance balls and ten bouncy bands to give students a variety and different options to choose from. I also chose two balance ball chairs, for students who need a more secure base, or need to work on their posture.
Ultimately these supplies will help ALL of my students as they are able to choose different seating at their desk and around the room. They will be able to keep their body moving, while keeping their mind focused on the task or lesson at hand.
