Our K classroom is very limited in white board space. I want to display all the modalities of learning we use for a unit of study (whether it's nursery rhymes, the five senses, rock collecting & study, addition...whatever) on this giant white board to reference our learning processes from beginning to end. There will be writing, art, student made charts, compelling questions, realia, etc. all posted on this board; in essence, the board will document our learning journey on every project we embark on during the school year.
Collaboration is key to learning in our kindergarten classroom. The children will create the total contents of what goes up on the learning wall. They will work together and communicate to represent the research and information we are gathering on our projects. The board will act as a wall of learning in our classroom, evolving and changing as the subjects of study change and will become more layered and complex over time. We will see evidence of our learning and growth every day when we study the wall; visitors will get a clear sense of our educational focus when they visit our classroom.
