This is my first year teaching, so it will also be my first time seeing my students "graduate"! The teachers on my team have told me that graduation is an emotional time for them; not only because they are moving on to the next grade level, but because of some of the student's attire. They are required to dress up in their "Best Sunday" clothes; however, some students come in worn, torn, dirty clothes for the ceremony and some do not even show up at all. As a team, we decided to make this year's graduation a memorable one regardless of what our students can afford to wear! My students need graduation caps, gowns, certificates and sashes on their graduation day in order to feel good about their accomplishments and growth that they have made in Kindergarten! Students and parents should want to attend their graduation and should not stay home because of their lack of attire. I want all my students and their families to attend their graduation at the end of this year and look and feel accomplished!
