I am a special education teacher working in a resource room. I service students with various disabilities individually and in small groups depending on the student needs. My students receive direct instruction in basic reading skills, reading comprehension, the writing process, math calculation skills, math reasoning skills, and problem solving. Students also receive support in organizational skills, study skills, applying what they learn in my classroom to tasks in the regular classroom, and skills and applications throughout the general curriculum. Students are taught using manipulatives, visuals, games, and hands-on activities along with researched based programs to help them review previously taught skills, practice new skills, and apply skills to new tasks and problem solving tasks.
