As I transition to high school this year, I want to provide an inviting, collaborative environment that meets the diverse learning styles of all students. One way of establishing this culture in the classroom is through flexible seating options.
Redesigning the traditional classroom model to allow for flexible seating promotes a change of teaching philosophy and structure to one that is more student led. Flexible seating elevates student engagement in a course that, for many incoming freshman, can be a challenge, as the rigor increases as they transition from middle school. Flexible seating allows students to choose where and how they work best to stay focused and the most productive.
