My school has a high poverty rate. All of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch. We have a 50% Hispanic, 30% African American and 20% Caucasian population. Despite all of this, my students come to school everyday excited to learn about the material for the day. My students overcome a lot just by showing up to school everyday. The challenges that they face everyday in their lives are hard. At our school, we try to do everything we can to help them overcome these challenges to be successful in their lives and give them the tools they need to be successful.
