Flexible seating in the classroom allows students to feel empowered to have the opportunity to choose where they will be working. It also allows a change in position from how the would be seated in traditional classroom seating. I plan to use these stools at my teacher table! Student's are allowed to choose the teacher table as a place to do work during large group activities. It will also be a great change in seating for students who come visit my table as I work with smaller groups of students.
The next two items will help with organization in our classroom. I believe that a nice and tidy class helps the overall climate of the classroom. Keeping our room nice and tidy not only provides a safe place for students to learn but also increases students learning and reduces distraction. Normally when doing paint projects, the finished (wet) products line the floor, countertops, table tops, or wherever I could find a clear surface to let my students creations dry. An art drying rack would provide a specific place for the student's work to dry, allowing our room to not have wet paint in all corners of the classroom and providing a safer classroom environment for students. I also have included paper organizers that will be used as a filing system for students papers, school notes, or anything that must be sent home in students folders. Having this system will make "end of the day folder stuffing" a breeze!
