In Kindergarten, we gather on the rug multiple times throughout the day. We start each day and end each day on the rug together as a community. We use the rug when we work together as a whole group, when they are collaborating with their peers and when we are resting our bodies after a long day.
My students would be so excited to have a bigger, cozier rug to bring us together. We are currently using a rug that does not provide enough space for each child to sit comfortably without bumping their peers. That can be very distracting, especially for the child that likes more space. A bigger rug would ensure that they all have enough room to stay on task and comfortable while they are learning. Along with learning on the rug, we use it for rest time and yoga to calm and restart their bodies and minds. A cozier rug will help them recharge and stay focused. We would be so excited to have a cozy rug under our bottoms!
