I am a third year teacher working as a STEM specialist. I have the pleasure of teaching over 800 incredibly diverse and unique students that are in kindergarten through fifth grade. Of the 800 students I see each week, one third of them have disabilities. 79% of these students are considered high needs. They live in an urban setting and many come from low income households and face many challenges in and out of school.
Because the teaching position I have is relatively new, I do not have many materials to work with. I am fortunate to have a large classroom with a greenhouse, large counters and sinks. My goal is to fill this space with the materials my new students need to be engaged and successful.
