I currently have standard desks and three "special" chairs. Those chairs, even though they are normal folding chairs" are the most sought after seating in my room. In speaking to students, I have come to realize that they sit in identical desks for hours every single day. The chairs break the monotony and keep them awake and engaged.
I want every student to be engaged in their learning, and the first step in that is giving them the choice of alternative seating options. Lap desks and surf boards will let students sit on the floor and still have a writing surface. Wobble stools and cushions and fidget bands help kids who need to move and fidget. The standing desks give students the option to not sit at all.
