As a teacher returning after several years out of the classroom, I'm on a mission to make sure my students get access to all of the tools & supplies necessary to make our 7th grade MATH class operate smoothly!
Pencil and paper are no longer the main supplies needed in math class! Technology is now incorporated throughout our lessons with Smart Boards and Chromebooks and we are using other tools like individual whiteboards & clipboards to practice the math skills being taught.
Many of our lessons involve collaborative work with groups or partnerships. Clipboards make it much easier to walk around the room with their notes in hand while they work together. The ability to assess student understanding of lesson concepts in a "snap-shot" style is where the whiteboard paddles come in! We will be using them for exit tickets at the conclusion of the lesson often. And being a math class, we are always sharpening our pencils!
