Help me give my 5th grade students the opportunity to have their own sketch books. In art class, we study graffiti, street art and lettering styles and the learners are able to completely personalize the cover of their sketchbook with their name, initials, or a sayings/images that are special to them. Once they complete the design, they learn how to adhere the design to the cover with modge podge. We also able to add glitter, texture and other personalized touches to the cover. The 5th graders will use their sketchbook all semester in class to learn and practice the elements of art. At the end of the year, they take their sketchbooks home and are able to fill them with art on their own.
Since it is always possible that we may return to virtual learning, if the students have their own sketchbooks they will be able to continue learning at home and refer to the projects and notes previously completed in class.
