The learning styles of children are very unique. I have come to learn that not everyone can learn sitting in a chair. The idea behind flex seating is to create a more comfortable environment that helps students be their best learning selves. With flex seating I give my students control of their learning by allowing them to choose where they sit and how they choose to best learn. There will be a variety of high, medium, and low seating options for students to choose. Students choose where they want to sit, but wherever they choose it must be a choice to promote their best learning style. Through this my students will learn to self regulate their learning. Furthermore, flex seating will promote character education and collaborative learning as students are situated in clusters for healthy dialogue during lessons of both whole group instruction and small group work. Additionally students will learn to simplify their supplies. Each student will have one bin for supplies and common items for easy access which will cut down on the undesirable items stuffed in desk. I am excited to see the growth my students will experience as they take charge of their learning!
