I serve 400 students in a small public school in a rural North Florida community. The community is agricultural in nature and many of the students come from very low socio-economic homes where they have very little exposure to materials and resources that support literacy learning. The lack of educational funding has made it difficult to provide technology resources to promote literacy and produce active readers. Giving a book to a child who can't read and expecting him to read it does nothing but produce frustrated students and teachers. Some students require additional resources to help them learn to read. That is the goal of this project...help students improve their literacy skills and become active excited readers!
