Choosing where and how you get to sit in the classroom is so much fun. I want to start using flexible seating in my classroom so that students are able to sit in a space that works best for them and their learning style. Currently we use the traditional desk and chair in the classroom. Students love to stand or move around, as they spend a good amount of their time in the classroom. Therefore, I would like to provide them with these different options so that they can be at their best learning potential. I am requesting stools, two bean bag chairs, inflatable chairs, three balance ball chairs, a set of balancing pods, as well as lap trays, clip boards and book bins.
My students will be able to choose between bean bag chairs, wobble chairs, stools, couches, exercise balls. The seats will be placed throughout the classroom. If a student chooses the traditional desk and chair, I will still have a few of those available as an option as well. As many of them will not have a desk, their books, journals, and supplies will be kept in book bins on the shelf. They will also be needing clipboards and lap trays to complete their work on during the day.
This project will allow my students to choose the space where they will be most comfortable throughout the day. It will help them be at their highest learning potential.
