I teach visual art to about 600 students from pre-k to 6th grade at Keonepoko Elementary School (Pahoa, HI). As an art teacher in a Title I school, I serve socioeconomically and culturally diverse student populations in low-income areas on East Hawaii Island. My students thrive on all of the school's support, and art is the core part of their school life. Through art class, they are able to express their identity and creativity, engage with social-emotional learning activities, and enhance academic learning through art integration. All of the art projects I provide are culturally responsive and technology-integrated and foster students' critical thinking.
Mahalo for all of your support to accelerate students' learning in art class!
