I teach a hard working group of 72 third graders that come from a very diverse and challenged backgrounds. They come to school two to three years behind in learning. I also have many students with different impairments mainstreamed into my classroom for various times during the day. I have some amazing students who strive to succeed, regardless of the economic and personal struggles they may face. My district is a Title I school district which receives funding from the state to help with resources for basic needs, but so much more is always needed, which cannot be provided by the district. Many of my students come from single parent home therefore, their struggle for academic assistance at home is real and their entire dependence is on the school.
