My beautiful school on a beach in NYC is an extremely diverse and spirited community. The administrators, teachers and students are all uniquely motivated and inspired to improve themselves, every day and in every way.
Teachers in my school do not only think that academics are important. At my school we strive to help the whole child grow, socially and emotionally. We encourage our diverse community of middle and high school students to share their cultures and appreciate each other, love each other despite our differences, and support each other through discussions and collaboration.
In today's world, growing up can be scary and full of pressure, especially in the middle school years. In the school community and in my classroom, we incorporate social and emotional learning to help kids love themselves, appreciate their uniqueness, and accept that making mistakes is the best way to learn.
