Being from a Title I school, under or low poverty area, the basic needs of notebook paper or markers can be a hard request for some parents. Learning should be a priority without the judgment of being unprepared. Since our school is starting a college readiness program called AVID, it requires us to be very organized with supplies such as highlighters, folders, markers and more.
Everyone remembers that excitement of gathering all your school supplies the night before school. However, the reality is that some students dread being unprepared for class due to their hardships. My classroom needs and will be a safe haven for all students in whatever situation. Using the decals and laminator can also give me the ability to teach efficiently and in a timely manner instead of stepping out of class for the extra resources.
