Our Reading Center will enhance the print-rich classroom that I am striving to create. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy. This Reading Center will provide students who love to read with a comfortable place to do so. It will also serve as a place students can complete work independently or with a partner!
Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and my students are thankful for the opportunities to read. It is because of this that I can say that they will cherish the chairs, rug, and pillows bought for them. I have watched my students these past few weeks of school read at their desks, and I want to provide an area that would allow them to immerse themselves in their reading more.
With this new reading center, I will be able to create an environment that engages and inspires kids to relax and read. As adults, we love to get cozy at coffee shops or libraries. Having spaces to read and getting kids out of their desks is critical. We must consider our children's movement and sensory needs. These needs are critical to the brain and learning. This project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word and make reading come alive!
