My students are from an inner-city public school in Missouri. Many students come to my school 2-3 years behind in reading. While we made great progress last year, many students are still behind. This year, our school is providing students with targeted reading instruction using the reading workshop model. With this model, students will not only have an ELA class with grade-level texts, but they will also have a period each day to read books on their independent reading level-with the support of the teacher-and develop both a love for reading and the skills needed to become a more fluent reader. To make this dream a reality, we need one thing: BOOKS!
About my class
