"I teach reading to 6th graders. My class consists of several special education students and English language learners in my classes. Because of this, it is best to offer a wide range of visual, audio, and hands-on learning materials in order to bring about the highest level of understanding. By differentiating my lessons, I am able to meet more students' needs, therefore, I am always seeking new strategies and materials that will make their learning more meaningful. I am currently working on providing flexible seating options for my students. When students feel comfortable, more learning occurs. I currently have some flexible seating options and the benefits are really paying off! My students are more comfortable and focused, more willing to collaborate, and complete much more of their work. My students work harder because they feel they have a voice in the classroom.
