The students that I work with are from all walks of life. They are the students who love to explore in the backyard or sit with a good book and read. I have a very diverse set of learners in my 2nd grade classroom. Some of which are coming to me with supportive households, others come to me from very low SES households with learning disabilities. Our school is blessed with the largest amount of low SES students in the district, with 80% on free and reduced lunch. With this amount of kids coming from low income households, we try and provide them with opportunities that they might not otherwise have. Our school is one of the top schools in the nation to integrate technology into the classroom. Our school feels that integrating technology into all facets of the curriculum through laptop computers, document cameras, SmartBoards, clickers, and iPods is the way to the future of education and the most exciting way for students to learn.
