On August 25, 2017, our homes, school and community were literally turned upside down when Hurricane Harvey descended on us. The predicted weather was a tropical storm, but we experienced a category 4 hurricane. Our school was closed for 6 weeks while portable buildings were shipped into town. Many of our students and staff were homeless for varying periods of time. We have become "Port A Strong" as we continue to rebuild.
All of the students come to my classroom for English, Language Arts and Reading instruction. The storage book bins eliminate the need for the children to transport all necessary supplies between the classrooms. The containers that we had have not survived the storm. The earbuds, clipboards, construction paper and scissors will be used for various ELAR projects.
I would like to thank you in advance for your contributing and for being a blessing to these very deserving students!
