I teach at a school where defying low expectations is a part of daily life. My students are kind and caring with huge hearts. They don't want to be defined as "Title I" or "low income." They're just kids - really fantastic kids. My kids want to be loved. They want to be told they can grow up to be whoever they want to be. My second graders keep me humble with their beautiful perspectives on life, and they keep a smile on my face with their great big hugs and hopes for their futures.
