This is my first year at a new school and teaching the magnificent grade of kindergarten. This new journey of mine has been absolutely wonderful. Watching these little learners grow each and every day is truly magical. Because I鈥檓 at a small school and a new teacher, I have a limited budget with minimal supplies. I had to start my class off from scratch. My school serves a large population of low socioeconomic families and funding is also limited.
I would love to provide my kiddos with a classroom rug that allows each and every one of them to have their own space to learn and continue to grow. As of now, my students have a rug that is not appropriate for my student class size. They鈥檙e often asking each other for personal space and/or they鈥檙e not even on the rug. Since the first day of school, not having an appropriately sized rug has been a struggle. I want my students to feel safe, part of a community and have as minimal distractions as possible. I feel having this rug would really allow my kids to feel safe, connected, help with distractions, foster appropriate behaviors, and allow them to grow as learners.
