One of my students' favorite parts of the day is when they come to the carpet and listen to a read aloud. They are engaged and actively participating in discussions. Reading aloud benefits students' fluency, print awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension. Students are able to make text-to-self connections, text-to-text connections, and text-to-world connections. They are able to listen to a higher language level thus making more complex ideas more accessible and exposing them to language that may not be part of their everyday lives. The books I have selected are a variety of Spanish and English read alouds that will help create a classroom community that will build on critical thinking skills. Right now we have a small selection of read alouds in the classroom. Your donations will allow our classroom library to grow and students to have a wide range of books to choose from. When children read with expression, they develop more confidence in themselves as readers. Your contribution will further enhance my students' love for reading!
