My school is located in one of the most economically disadvantaged areas in the entire state of Oklahoma and serves Pre-K through 4th Grade. 100% of scholars are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch each day. A very high percentage of my scholars are bilingual.
All of my scholars want to be successful and come with a desire to learn, even though they face many challenges.
My scholars repeatedly express the desire to become better readers and love to read. I work very hard to continue to cultivate the love for reading they already have, as does the rest of the staff in my building. My scholars also enjoy Math, and I work hard to show them that Math is something that continually builds. We also learn that Math is everywhere! We meet them where they are, while still challenging them to do their best. I could not ask for better scholars than the ones I have worked with at Cesar Chavez Elementary School.
