In our school, we believe in both working hard as well as playing hard and in Kindergarten these two go hand in hand. My students learn best through exploration, practice, peer interaction and content rich materials. All of these traits align seamlessly with play. By housing an array of developmentally appropriate play material within the target content area, I can support my students autonomy in their learning. The games, toys, and activities I am asking for all come with purpose. The math games will support their understanding and give them purposeful time to interact with and manipulate numbers to develop their number sense. The literacy games will increase their concept of letters, words and print which in turn will strengthen their foundation of life-long learning and reading. The tools for play will develop their fine motor, sharing, and stamina skills. Lastly, the pieces intended for calming and stress management skills will give them tangible items to use appropriately in place of inappropriate behavior in the class. Thank you for reading about my amazing little class and for any donation you are able to provide.
