Have you ever walked in to a beautiful space that took your breath away and left you in awe? As a Reading Specialist, I know and understand the importance of getting my students to read! By supporting this grant, you will enable me to create a beautiful, welcoming spacing for my students to sit down, relax, and catch up with their favorite character.
It is important for my students to have a clean, safe environment to learn and thrive in. With your help, we can create that environment for my students this year and for many years to come!
I am requesting two bean bag chairs that will be used during our Literacy block. While I am working with 4-5 students during guided reading, the remainder of my class will be rotating through "stations" in the classroom. I feel that most students, especially those who struggle to read, are least likely to "choose" silent reading or book buddies. I am hoping that this new seating area will draw students in and help encourage them to choose reading.
I am also requesting two low level bookcases. The low level bookcases will not only help create an open sight-line in the classroom but it will also contain all of the self-select books in the classroom. Organization is key to running a classroom of 35+ students! Two bookshelves will help me organize our classroom for the students and give me a place to put their favorite reading series!
