I teach 3rd grade at a Title 1 (high poverty) school. Many of my students come from homes where there are multiple generations, or even multiple families, living in the home. School supplies are provided by the school, so unfortunately many don't own books of their own at home. For many of my students English is there second language and so reading can be a challenge. My hope is to create a classroom library with a wide variety of reading levels and subject matters so that these young minds can develop a love and passion for reading. My students are eager to do well in school and I know that with access to more books I would see an improvement in reading fluency as well as reading comprehension.
