In an English classroom setting, I am constantly looking for ways to get my students out of their seats, get them moving, and keep them engaged. If I can provide the means to create these learning experiences, I believe that I can cultivate a lifelong love of English, and most importantly, learning.
With the Breakout EDU boxes, I can send my students on a witch hunt through "The Crucible," or on a life-or-death escape from Poe's "Red Death." These boxes will be used throughout the entirety of my curriculum and in both of the grades that I teach. Through these hands-on experiences, my students will practice identifying theme and literary devices, they will use deductive reasoning and textual evidence to draw conclusions, and they will work with their peers to solve problems.
Having the Breakout EDU boxes as an available resource in my classroom would help to heighten student engagement and allow me to provide my students a learning environment that is as diverse as their individual learning needs.
