Our school is a school of about 300 students, located in Wisconsin. Of these approximately 300 students, 28% are eligible for the reduced lunch program. The majority of our students are white (non-Hispanic), but we do have a range of other ethnicities represented at Willow Glen. Among our students are Hispanics, African American, and Asian/Pacific-Islander.
Currently I have 20 first graders in my classroom. Most of the students are white, with a few Hispanic children. They are a community of readers, writers, mathematicians and scientists. The first graders and I work together each day as a team of learners. They all have special needs - whether they are struggling or excelling, each child in my room finds his or her unique needs met to the best of my ability.
