I have a class of 23 curious, active 5th graders who love to learn! This year, I happen to have 15 boys and 8 girls. We are in a public school of 3rd - 5th graders, about 200 in all. Though most of the school's population would be categorized as middle class, we do have about 19% that qualify for free and reduced lunch. The students in my class are eager to try new things and absolutely love anything that is technology related. They do have access to a computer lab on a weekly basis, but having a student computer in the classroom that they could access during free time or be used as a station would be a way to actively engage them. They have asked many times why we can't have a computer that can use some of the software that they see stored on my counter. Hopefully, that will happen!
