I teach a college-level course in Forensic Science and a Science Research class. My goal is to engage my students in learning so that these courses become a positive component of their high school experience that not only prepares them for more advanced study but also enriches their lives. In both courses, I emphasize intensive laboratory activities, current events, cross-cutting concepts, and extensive reading and writing. Students practice applying material alone and with members of a learning team. I want to foster an interest in science that continues beyond the date of the final exam, prepares students to make effective choices in the voting booth and the jury box, enables them to be citizens of the world, and helps them acquire skills that can be used in other endeavors.
