My goal is to support my students in getting to a "just right" state for learning. Fidget tools will be used to provide sensory input; they can help improve concentration and attention to tasks by allowing the brain to filter out the extra sensory information (e.g. listening to a read-aloud in the classroom; participating in math small groups). Setting up sensory stations is a way to allow the youth in my class to easily meet their sensory needs in the classroom. Social emotional learning (SEL) instruction helps youth learn to cope with feelings, set goals, make decisions, and get along with others. These types of social and emotional skills are essential for success in school and in life.
