As I mentioned before when describing my students, they are at their full potential when they are able to make their own choices and feel in charge of their education. With this group of students (and many other students I have worked with) I have noticed that they thrive when they are able to choose where they sit and with whom they work (within reason). Because of this, we move around the room daily and find the most comfortable place for each student to work. Unfortunately we don't have too many options at the moment (a u-shapped table similar to their desks, a couple stools and a "fun college chair" that I purchased and they all race to first).
I can only image the joy on their faces and the fire in their souls when they see that their choices have been broadened and they are able to be comfortable and focused to their fullest capability. I can see these options meeting every single one of my students needs, even the ones who prefer the comfort of their own desk by using a seat cushion. These seating options align with the idea of "flexible seating" which has been proven to derive student success.
Many of these students look forward to coming to school each day to be with their peers, work hard and escape to their second home. These accommodations, at the very least, would make it homier.
