My students and I work hard to have a quality band program with a small budget. Nearly half of these students rely on using school-owned instruments so that they are able to participate in band.
In addition to instruments, there are many basic supplies that students must have in order to successfully play in band. Woodwind players need reeds and cork grease; brass players need valve and slide oils. Mouthpiece brushes and sanitizing spray help keep their mouthpieces clean and bacteria free.
Having all of these supplies on hand ensures that our instruments stay in working order, and keep my students playing even when their families cannot afford to provide these necessary items.
