I require my students to read independently for 20 minutes each day. Circumstances at home can make this difficult, and books at home may not be the best option for the child's current reading level. Furthermore, my students enjoy reading online, where they can choose from a wide variety of eBooks, and seeing their reading level go up as they advance.
Three more Chromebooks in my classroom would make it possible for every student to use our online leveled reading program each day, taking pressure off of parents and allowing children to focus on family time at home rather than battling over reading. This will support my goal of bringing every single student up to grade-level reading by the end of the school year.
