We are a 4th and 5th grade ESOL class from Oregon. Our school population is at 485 K-5 in a building that was built for 300. Class sizes are all around 30, so things are a little crowded, but we press on. Many of our families are on the free and reduced lunch program. Our students come from various ethnic groups, including Russian, Hispanic, Korean, and Anglo. We have a perfect mix and their smiling faces greet us every single day. It is a wonderful school and though we do expect the children to be successful, they also know it is a safe and caring place for them.
We do a number of parent education nights, programs, academic nights, and any other activities where we can bridge the home to school gap. Our philosophy is that by getting parents more involved in their child's education it becomes a family thing instead of parents against the school.
Myers is an amazing place to work and attend.
