America is at a crossroads in our nations vast and diverse history. We are once again at a place where we find ourselves battling to perfect our union and move forward. As someone that loves teaching U.S. History not only to inspire a love for this nation but also to teach my students to connect what is happening now with things from the past and to grow and learn from the similarities of the past.
"The Federalist Papers" as well as De Tocqueville's "Democracy in America" will help give my students a foundation to understand both who we are as a nation and who we are striving to become. Having a class set of both of these works will give my students better access to this material and help in this process. We will be able to not just talk about and look at small clips of the writings of Jay, Madison, Hamilton, and Tocqueville, but to read and study them in depth.
