My students need tools to help them manage stress. When dysregulated, students with Emotional Disturbance find it very difficult to calm down. Fidgets and the other tools on my list help distract students from whatever it is that they are perseverating on. A weighted vest can feel like a warm embrace. Ear protectors help allows students sensitive to noise the chance to focus on the task at hand. A small fidget toy can keep hands busy, allowing the mind to focus.
The donations to this project will help my students manage stress while giving them access to books they will love.
In addition to having Emotional Disturbance, most of my students are a grade or two below grade level. The goal of my district is to have all students reading on grade level by the end of third grade. The challenge is finding a book written at a kindergarten level that a third grader will think is cool. The book portion of my projec
