Although financial distress is a constant in most of my students' households, they are eager to soak up any knowledge that is available to them. I'm privileged to teach the children of Hispanic immigrants who are very familiar with the consequences of financial illiteracy.
Struggling to put a meal on their table, they work hard and harder, so their children don't have to suffer so much.
These little sponges come into my Classroom and pour their hearts and soul into their academic endeavors.
They know the sacrifices that their parents make so they can have a better future. Children should only worry about children's things, but they are too close to the problem not to get sucked in.
