My students are great! They are hard-working, but need more hands-on supplies to focus on areas they struggle with based on practice California State Science Exams (CSTs). My school is low-income with many kids coming from families who do not speak English as their native language. Many students come from households living below the poverty line and are on the free/reduced lunch program. Students attend classes from 7 am to 5 pm and even on some weekends in order to get the extra help they need to be successful. They work well and feel confident in their abilities through inquiry-based labs. Due to this fact, my students consistently score high on state exams, surpassing students who come from schools with larger family incomes than ours. However, I know they could do better with added experiences. This is what I hope to do with my Donors Choose projects.
