The requested drones will continue to enhance the STEM-focused classroom that I am creating. I use STEM projects as the launching pad for cross-curriculum teaching. This gains and holds the interest of my students as they learn and apply their new knowledge to real-world endeavors and situations. This authentic learning not only helps deepen their understanding but also it teaches students a national and global perspective.
Using programmable drones, not only lets the students enjoy coding, but it also adds a real-world application to their efforts. These drones will serve several purposes. They will expose the students to programming with different technology, with unique applications that can be used across a multitude of learning spectrums. It will also keep encouraging them to explore beyond their possibilities. This opportunity brings the visions they see on TVand in movies, into their hands where they can begin to envision their own future careers and college studies. The best way to increase curiosity and desire to do more in life is by introducing them to the newest technology available. My students have already shown the capacity to learn programming skills with Hour of Code events and introductory robotics. This project will allow them to further enhance their skills.
